Search Credo Reference for credible topic summaries

Welcome to our Database Spotlight column, a monthly feature from the Calvin T. Ryan Library. This month’s featured database is Credo Reference.

Link: http://0-search.credoreference.com.rosi.unk.edu/  Access is available off-campus to UNK students and employees using an EASI username and password.

Focus: Credo Reference provides access to short articles from over 600 encyclopedias, dictionaries, and authoritative sources.

Search: Credo Reference can be searched by keyword. Credo’s visual “Mind Map” feature allows users to identify related terms to brainstorm and expand their search. Credo’s Tools section allows precision searching on word definitions, biographies, quotations, and holidays.

Why you should know this database:  Credo Reference provides a credible, authoritative alternative to Wikipedia for informational summaries on a wide variety of topics. As of March 2016, Credo Reference entries are now displayed along the right side of LOPERSearch results.

Cost: The subscription to Credo Reference cost $4,787 for 2015-16 and is paid by the library using Student Library Fees. For more information about this resource, please contact a UNK librarian.
