Welcome to our Database Spotlight column, a monthly feature from the Calvin T. Ryan Library. This month’s featured database is JoVE: Journal of Visualized Experiments.

Link: http://0-www.jove.com.rosi.unk.edu/   Access is available off-campus to UNK students and employees using an EASI username and password.

Focus: JoVE is a peer-reviewed journal that includes professionally-produced videos of science research. UNK currently subscribes to the Biology and Neuroscience modules.

Search: JoVE can be searched by keyword or browsed by subject.

Why you should know this database:  Each article in JoVE is accompanied by a 5- to 10-minute video describing experimental procedures and protocols. JoVE articles are indexed in PubMed and Google Scholar. Some articles outside the biology and neuroscience modules are available under open access terms.

Sample title: An Introduction to Worm Lab: from Culturing Worms to Mutagenesis

Cost: The subscription to JoVE cost $6,650 for 2015-16 and is paid by the library using Student Library Fees. For more information about this resource, please contact a UNK librarian.
