The Calvin T. Ryan Library has recently upgraded to ProQuest’s Dissertations and Theses Global – a full-text resource of nearly 2 million graduate student dissertations and theses published in North America and Europe. Many of these graduate student works published after 1997 are now available in PDF format through this database, with citations to another 1.8 million works dating back to 1861 also included. Where previously the library only had access to 24-page “previews” of these works, now the entire document is available.
Dissertations and Theses provides an invaluable resource for building a comprehensive literature review, often citing sources and ideas that might otherwise be missed. Audio, video, datasets, survey instruments, and other types of digital files are also included for thousands of these works.
Funding for PQDT Global was generously provided by the UNK Office of Graduate Studies and Research. This new database is listed under the “Articles & Databases” webpage under the alphabetical listings and under the subject of “Dissertations and Theses.”
