Learn about the world scope of the CDC’s research programs

Dr. Robert Wirtz, Chief of the Entomology Branch, Division of Parasitic Diseases and Malaria of the Center for Global Health at the CDC will speak at UNK as part of the Learning Commons seminar series on research and creative activity. Faculty, staff and students are invited to attend this presentation at 1 p.m. Friday, April 26th in the Nebraskan Student Union, Room 310.

Dr. Wirtz will give an overview of CDC Entomology Branch research activities, with a focus on malaria control.  He is a prolific researcher in this field, and author of more than 270 publications, including nine book chapters in the areas of medical entomology, arthropod repellents, insect physiology, toxicology, allergies to arthropods, molecular biology, immunology, and malaria vaccine and drug efficacy.

This presentation should be of special interest to students and faculty in the biological sciences, health sciences and nursing, and related areas.  This program is jointly sponsored by the Office of Undergraduate Research, the Learning Commons and the Calvin T. Ryan Library.
