This year we celebrate the 223rd anniversary of the signing of the Constitution of the United States of America. This historical document was signed by 39 men on September 17, 1787.
In 2005, Congress passed legislation to honor this day in our nation’s history. According to this legislation, “educational institutions receiving Federal funding are required to hold an educational program pertaining to the United States Constitution on September 17 of each year.”
Some ways to commemorate the occasion:
The Allan P. Kirby, Jr. Center for Constitutional Studies and Citizenship is sponsoring a live webcast on September 16-17, featuring Constitutional topics of interest. You can sign up here: http://www.avwebcasting.com/hillsdale/register.php?constitutionday.com
