Whether researching for class assignments or job interviews, students looking for business information should consider these two online resources available through the library:
Hoover’s Online is a directory of 35 million companies which includes brief industry profiles for 600 business sectors, and biographical information on key executives. Use Hoover’s to find recent sales figures and the history for the Kearney-based clothing chain, The Buckle, or find similar company information about Omaha-based Berkshire Hathaway, Inc. or Union Pacific. Hoover’s is listed under the “H’s”, as well as “Business and Management,” “Careers and Test Prep,” and “Directories” from the library’s “Articles & E-Resources” webpage.
First Research provides detailed analyses to over 300 industries, updated quarterly, providing insights on business trends and forecasts. This information can be valuable in developing marketing reports and preparing for job interviews. An example of some industry forecast data for “Clothing Stores,” available within First Research, is shown below:

First Research is listed under the “F’s” and the subjects of “Business and Management,” “Careers and Test Prep,” and “Economics” from the library’s “Articles & E-Resources” webpage.
